A tourist in the Turks and Caicos Islands lost both hands after attempting to photograph a shark in shallow waters at Blue Hills Beach. The attack, believed to involve a bull or tiger shark, occurred on February 7. Authorities closed the beach temporarily but later determined the shark had moved to deeper waters.
Officials warned visitors to respect marine life and follow safety guidelines. This marks the fourth shark attack in the area since 2021, with previous incidents resulting in severe injuries or amputations. Tourists are urged to swim in designated areas, avoid murky waters, and never attempt to engage with or feed marine wildlife.
